Workshop Seconds

Fully functional collars at discounted prices. Each of our collars is inspected by hand. If we spot a slight fault in the finish, decoration or shape, these become Seconds. All Seconds are structurally sound but might feature blemishes in the leatherwork or beading. Grab yourself a bargain. Non-refundable..

Craftsmanship and quality you can trust

Our leather beaded products are made in the workshop on the coast of Kenya beside the Indian Ocean.  We support skilled Kenyan artisans who make the collars with great care threading each individual bead by hand  creating intricate patterns with bright and sometimes iridescent colours. 

The manufacturing and shipping process for Simba Jones collars necessarily takes a long time - typically three to four months and we usually place two to three orders per year - the value of which contributes to the local economy.

Because the products are hand made, you may find minor differences between collars of the same size and colour though we try to ensue that these are minimised.

Can I attach a lead to my collar?

Yes of course - though we strongly recommend using a harness especially if your dog is prone to pulling. The collars are not indestructible!

Can you make custom collars?

I regret our workshops are too far away and the supply lines too long for this to be a practical proposition.

Can we visit your premises?

We have quite a few independent retailers around the country who stock our collars and those are the best places to see them. We are unable to accommodate visitors on our site.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the circumference of your dog's neck at collar tightness with string and then measure that length of string. That is the buckle bar to middle hole measurement we use for our collars and you just have to pick the nearest size - there is 5cm to 7cm adjustment each way depending on the collar size.

Where are your collars made?

In a workshop in Malindi on the coast of Kenya. The coast largely relies on tourism for its economy which can be quite variable, so making beaded products is a more stable form of income for the people there.

If you are out of stock on a particular colour or size, how soon will it be back in stock?

We place a large order with the workshop 2 to 3 times per year which takes around 4 months to fulfill and ship. So it can take a little while but we do usually have enough choice in stock in the UK to satisfy most customers.

Do you buy from wholesalers?

No - we only buy direct from the people who make them and we ensure that there are no "middlemen".

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes we do - but due to the limited volumes available for a handmade product, we are only able to offer a service to smaller independent retailers. Please contact us for details if interested.
